How It Works
All solid metal gutter covers work on the same principle: rain flows over the curved edge of the cover and into the gutter through a gap small enough to keep out debris, using a principle of physics known as the Coanda Effect. The phenomenon of a fluid flowing in contact with a solid surface and tending to follow it even when it curves away, was discovered by Henri Coanda in 1910. The solid metal cover differs from mesh gutter covers in that it allows the debris to slide off, rather than become trapped and blocking the mesh. LeavesOut sets the gap so that up to 12 inches of rain an hour is handled, even on the steepest roof. Guaranteed!
LeavesOut differs from other gutter cover systems in four important ways: quality of product, ease of attachment, price, and service to our customers.
The LeavesOut product is made up of two parts — high-grade Alcoa® aluminum that has been treated on both surfaces with a finish having a lifetime warranty, and our patented, rugged, stainless steel clips. By using the finest grade of materials we can guarantee the product will last as long as you own your home.
LeavesOut panels are attached to the gutters (not the roof) using stainless steel clips and screws. The panels are slid between the lower edges of shingles. Our solid connection to the gutters withstands high winds, ice and snow without compromising your existing roof. No screws or nails penetrate your roof. LeavesOut can be easily removed if your gutters or roof ever need to be repaired or replaced. The finished installation looks like one continuous piece.
Because of the ease and quickness of the installation process, and the fact that we manufacture the product, we are able to offer extremely competitive prices for a high-quality product — made right here in the USA!
Finally, to ensure the reputation of LeavesOut is maintained, our certified dealers stand behind their work. If you ever have a question or concern about the LeavesOut installed on your home, we address the issue promptly to guarantee LeavesOut continues working for you as designed.
The Installation Process
Free Estimate & Gutter Evaluation
The certified dealer will come to your home to measure your gutters. He will determine whether any repairs or modifications need to be done to resolve problems or issues you are having with your gutters.
The dealer will explain every aspect of the product to you, including how LeavesOut is installed, how it will affect your roofing, repair options, color choices, our lifetime warranty and more. He will also show you a small display so you can see how the final installation will look on your home.
A crew will show up on time to clean the debris from your gutters and downspouts, make minor repairs to the gutters as needed, and install the product. You need not even be home to have LeavesOut installed, and a typical installation can be finished in just a few hours.
LeavesOut vs The Competition
Other solid aluminum gutter guard products on the market often aren’t made from high quality materials and may not do the job they are advertised to do: keeping the gutters from clogging up with leaf and tree debris while channeling all of the rainfall into the gutter.
LeavesOut is a superior quality product made in the USA with a transferable Lifetime Warranty that eliminates gutter clutter by filtering out leaves, twigs, pine needles, seeds and other tree debris.

Some gutter cover products require the existing gutters to be replaced with an all-new integrated gutter system with cover. Most people don’t need gutters replaced, just covered to keep debris out. Even if the customer has new gutters and then LeavesOut gutter guards are installed, the total cost is less than installing the integrated system.
LeavesOut gutter guards carry a transferable limited lifetime warranty. The Alcoa 2-coat lo-mar finish is applied to both sides of the product to reduce the possibility of corrosion and extend the life of the product. Most competitors’ products are painted only on one side.
LeavesOut gutter guards have a lower profile than other similar products, which greatly increases it’s eye-appeal. Based on appearance alone, the customer will frequently choose LeavesOut over the competition.
Most gutter covers are attached to the gutter using either aluminum or plastic fasteners. LeavesOut gutter guards use stainless steel which, of course, is stronger and more durable, and therefore can be spaced further apart. This means there is less opportunity for debris to catch on the fasteners resulting in virtually no maintenance.
LeavesOut gutter guards come in a wide range of colors to match either the gutter or the roof color. We offer 23 standard colors with a total of over 140 colors available.
The LeavesOut gutter protection system already comes in a wider range of colors than any other company in the industry! The standard 22 colors offered has been expanded to 23 colors.
Note: Colors shown are web-based reproductions and may vary from actual.
LeavesOut gutter covers are secured to the gutter lip with the material slipped between the 2 bottom layers of shingle. They are not glued, nailed, or screwed to the roofing, as are some other products on the market. When it comes time to re-shingle the roof, LeavesOut gutter covers can be easily removed and reinstalled where other similar products are very difficult to remove and nearly impossible to reinstall and still function properly. (Ask any roofer.)
The position of LeavesOut gutter covers allow a ladder to be leaned against the gutter and not touch the product. Several other products on the market get dented or pushed out of position by ladders being leaned against them.
The installed cost of LeavesOut gutter guards is about half that of similar products. Where LeavesOut has not been marketed yet, the competitor’s prices are known to be 3 to 4 times higher!
The design and installation method of LeavesOut gutter guards is quite flexible so they can be installed to different roof configurations. With this flexibility LeavesOut is widely known as the “most versatile gutter cover in the world”. It can be installed on both 5″ and 6″ standard aluminum gutters. It is successfully installed not only on standard shingled roofs, but also cedar shake roofs, metal roofs and even slate roofs. It installs on virtually flat roofs to nearly vertical (23/12 pitch) roofs. The bottom line is that LeavesOut can be installed where other products cannot.
